Vijay was born on 22 June 1974 In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India to a director father S. A. Chandrasekharand singer mother Shoba.
Vijay started his career as a child artist in 1984 with a film made by his father.
South super stars Vikram and Surya is his good friends.
He complete more than 25 years in film industry and has appeared in more than 62 films in a career spanning.
The actor had never acted films in other language except one language that is Tamil.
The actor started a social welfare organization called Vijay Makkal Iyakkam which was officially launched on 26th July 2009 at Pudukottai, It is responsible for much of his philanthropic work.
Once He got a chance to see the tom cruise's house on beach during his journey to America so He take the picture of his house and build the same house for him in Neelangarai.
He believes to make social work rather than doing parties in big hotels on the day of his birthdays that’s why he gave free books or notebooks to 50 thousand students.
