Deepika was born on 5th January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Konkani- speaking parents but when she was 11 months old, her family moved back to Bengaluru.
She loves music, eating, sleeping, and watching movies and played badminton at state level until 10th standard of school.
She was not a social person and had very few friends at her young age.
Initially she wanted to become a Badminton player but later she changed her mind and began modeling.
She moved from Bengaluru to Mumbai and stayed at the home of her aunt for becoming a model.
At the 5th annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards she won the “Model of the Year” award.
When Deepika was 17 years old she made her first catwalk.
She learned dance from Shiamak Davar and acting skills from Anupam Kher’s “Actor Prepares”.
Salman Khan first spotted her talent and offered her a film, but at the time and was not ready to make movies and just begun her modeling career.
In 2009, Deepika started working as a freelancer writer and had write weekly columns for HT city, the lifestyle supplement of Hindustan Times.
At the fifth annual kingfisher Fashion Awards Deepika was awarded the title “Model of the Year”.
Instead of using the stairs she prefers to use the lift.
She has a habit of listing everything is and very systematic in doing things.
In 2008 she was ranked no. 1 in the “Hot 100” list of Indian Maxim.
She adopted a village in 2010 in Ambegaon, Maharashtra, to provide basic amenities such as water and electricity to the villagers.
She founded the “Live Love Laugh Foundation” in 2015 to prevent and deal with depression.
In 2015 “Furious 7”, she was offered a role but she declined the offer due to other commitments.
